There is a common misunderstand ing of the scriptures in James 4:7 (Submit yourselves, then to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you) and 1 Peter 5:9a (Whom resist steadfast in faith), People imagine that they have to wrestle the devil to the ground in resistance. Like, I have to battle it out…No Sir, Jesus Christ has already done that. This misunderstanding comes mostly from our natural human understanding of the word RESIST. What the scriptures are telling us is to STAND FIRM on the word of God and remain RESOLUTE in trusting God as a demonstration of our FAITH. That is your own work. If we look at the Authority Jesus gave to us in Eph. 18-21 and the victory we have in Christ as clearly stated in 1 John 5:4 then you will see that there is no need to begin to imagine yourself in a duel with the devil. Your authority and spiritual status place you far above principalities and powers as stated in Eph.1:21 and Col.18. The toe of a king controls ...
GOD- ABBA FATHER! Bible Text: Romans 8:14-17. Who is a FATHER? A father is someone who has a CHILD either by birth or adoption. There is a marked difference between genuine FATHER and irresponsible father. A real father takes responsibility for certain needs of the child such as their well-being, security, feeding and all-round growth, protection, and provision. This is why God is regarded as the EVERLASTING FATHER because he doesn’t joke with his role as father, this is why he didn’t spare his only begotten son. In Mat.6:9-13, Our Lord Jesus Christ referred to God as father and taught us to pray in such manner. A CHILD in the biblical context of our bible text refers to all who have been sired by a FATHER. Who are the “Many Sons”? "SON" is used as metaphor in this bible verse to refer to those who have become CHILDREN of God by adoption into the family of God through being born again. The have now become “Joint heirs with Christ” of Divine blessings and grace of God th...
Bible text: James 2:14-26 INTRODUCTION A paradox is a seemingly contradictory statement that is still true. There are several of such in Christian theology. The argument over faith and works is much like the chicken and the egg paradox. Of course, we know that for there to be an egg, there must be a mother hen. Yet, a hen cannot exist without hatching from an egg. Just as this question was a great challenge and debate for ancient Greek philosophers, so, it is with the argument of faith versus works for many believers. WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT TO A BELIEVER, FAITH or WORKS? THE BIBLICAL UNDERSTANDING OF FAITH AND WORKS What is faith? Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses]” “Faith is the confidence that what we hope for has happened and an assurance about what ...
